The Manage Workplace Safety and Health in Construction Sites (In-Person) course is compulsory for Project Managers managing projects above $10 million. Formerly known as the Construction Safety Course for Project Managers (CSCPM), this course equips participants with essential knowledge of the WSH Act, risk management, incident handling, and safety system implementation, enabling them to maintain strong safety performance across construction projects.

Course Objective

At the end of the programme, you will have knowledge to the following topics:

  • Understand the legal obligations of duty holders, including a project manager of a worksite, under the new WSH framework.
  • Perform the role and duty as Chairman of WSH Committee.
  • Plan and implement safety programme for construction activities including working at height, mechanical and electrical works, material handling, scaffolding and excavation.
  • Plan and implement an occupational health programme for construction activities.
  • Plan and implement risk management programme for all construction activities.
  • Establish the procedures for incident reporting and accident investigation.
  • Establish and implement Safety and Health Management System in worksite.
  • Plan and participate safety and health audit and review in worksite.
Assumed Skills & Knowledge / Pre-requisites

Learners are assumed to possess the following skills and knowledge:

  • Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 6 and above or equivalence
  • Knowledge of the construction industry activities
  • Building and construction operations
  • Building and construction processes
  • Legal and statutory requirements associated with building and construction
  • Basic safety and health issues associated with construction operations
  • Written and oral communication, presentation, facilitation and problem solving skills

Learners must be holding the position of Chairman of Safety Committee, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Superintendent or equivalent post to be eligible to attend this course.

Course Outline

The GMS WSQ framework aims to raise the professionalism of the workforce. This Competency Unit aims to equip the construction related industry workforce with knowledge and skills for fulfilling the roles of the construction project manager.

Fees and Funding

This course is applicable for SkillsFuture Funding up to 70%.

*From 1 Jan 2022, SkillsFuture course funding will be revised to a baseline of 50% subsidy, with an additional 20% subsidy (up to 70% subsidy) for SMEs and Mid-career individuals (Singapore citizens above 40 years old) . Do note that the funding amount advised is not final and is subject to changes.
