The “Operate Vertical Personnel Platform“ Course is aimed at providing individuals with the knowledge and skills to operate vertical personnel platforms safely. At the end of the course, participants will be proficient in selection of appropriate vertical personnel platforms, conducting risk assessment and route checks, identification of hazards for vertical personnel platforms operations, basic vertical personnel platforms operations and reinstating vertical personnel platforms in a safe manner.

At the end of the programme, you will be able to:
- select an appropriate VPPL, including risk assessment for the task to be carried out
- state the safety requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and the Code of Practice for Working Safely At Height related to VPPL
- carry out pre-start inspection
- state factors affecting stability
- identify common hazards during traveling, setup, operation and parking of VPPL and their control measures
- conduct workplace inspection
- state function of VPPL controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures
- use personal protective equipment appropriate to the task, worksite and environment as a result of the risk assessment conducted and according to the manufacturer’s guidelines
- operate VPPL safely
Learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:
- have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work
- be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 3 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
- be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 3 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
- be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 3; and
- be medically fit to work at height
- Prepare to carry out vertical personnel platform operations
- Carry out vertical personnel platform operations
- Conduct post operation of vertical personnel platform
This course is applicable for SkillsFuture Funding up to 70%.
*From 1 Jan 2022, SkillsFuture course funding will be revised to a baseline of 50% subsidy, with an additional 20% subsidy (up to 70% subsidy) for SMEs and Mid-career individuals (Singapore citizens above 40 years old) . Do note that the funding amount advised is not final and is subject to changes.
