The purpose of this competency unit is to enable learners to Perform Work in Confined Space Operations based on a set of competency elements, which includes:
- Identify duties and responsibilities o all personnel involved in confined space work under the WSH Legislations and Codes of Practice
- Identify confined space hazards
- Use Gas detection Instruments for atmospheric monitoring
- Comply with Permit-to-work system and safe work procedures when working in confined space
- Participate in an emergency for confined space

At the end of the programme, you will be:
- equipped with the necessary knowledge and expertise to perform the duties of an entrant and attendant when working in a confined space
- use gas detection instruments and participate in an emergency situation
Learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:
- have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work
- be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 2 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
- be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
- be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2; and
- be medically fit

This course is applicable for SkillsFuture Funding up to 70%.
