The course's objectives are to give participants the necessary understanding of working at heights, the ability to assess fall protection equipment before use and once a year, and the know-how of equipment upkeep, storage, and service.

Course Objective

At the end of the programme, you will be able to:

  • understand the applicable laws, rules, and policies that pertain to personal fall protection equipment (PFPE)
  • identify possible fall risks in a range of work settings and recognize the effects of these risks and how they affect PFPE examination and selection
  • identify different types of PFPE, including harnesses, lanyards, connectors, anchorage points, and self-retracting lifelines
  • understand the specific use and limitations of each type of equipment
Assumed Skills & Knowledge / Pre-requisites

Learners must be above 18 years of age and are assumed to:

  • have attended Perform Work at Height Course, AWSHCS or equivalent
  • have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work
  • be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills (ES) level 2 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
  • be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2 (Applies to English Courses ONLY)
  • be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES level 2; and 
  • be medically fit
