WSH Management in Construction Industry/Supervise Construction Work for WSH/Building Construction Supervisors Safety
The purpose of this Competency Unit is to enable the WSH Coordinator or Supervisor to acquire the knowledge and be equipped with the application skills to supervise WSH in the construction industry. This Competency Unit is designed to focus on building the competency of the WSH Coordinator or Supervisor in identifying the common hazards and risks in the workplace and taking appropriate control measures in supervising WSH in the construction industry.

Previously known as the Building Construction Supervisors Safety Course (BCSS), the Construction Work for Workplace Safety and Health course is suitable for those working at a construction site as a foreman or supervisor. Site engineers and clerk of works or those with a diploma/ degree in engineering who wish to work in the construction industry should also consider taking the course.
Under the Workplace Safety and Health (Construction) Regulations 2007 reg. 9 (2b), no employee without adequate health and safety training is allowed to supervise or oversee any process, or work carried out in a worksite. The training should be conducted to ensure that construction work at the site could be done safely.
Through the WSQ-Supervise Construction Work for WSH (BCSS) course, participants can learn how to interpret and explain legislations from WSH and other prerequisites related to the construction industry. During the course, participants can learn the overview of the WSH management system, preparing them for the duties that will be required of a construction supervisor. They can also understand how to conduct comprehensive inspections that follow the proper procedures of organisational inspection, including investigating incidents and reporting them.
Please note that there will be a 15 min oral interview 1 week after the class ends. The interview date is typically 1 week after the final day of the class. Candidates are required to submit a written report as instructed by the trainer. Failure to do so will result in failure of the course.
